Tips for photographing your child.

back to 'question & answer'

1. Avoid photographing down from your own eye-level. When you bring down the camera to the same height as your child, you will capture him\her in a more natural way.

2. Natural light is nicer than flashlight. Using flash disturbs the depth in your child's face and makes it look flat. With enlargements the face will become one large uniform surface. Natural light which hits the face at a slight angle will have a nice natural effect. Also: natural light will give no red eyes!

3. Think about how you want your child to be dressed. For our purposes we advise you to dress your child in something which doesn't distract too much attention from the face.

4. Give your child some space. Don't zoom in on your child's face too much. Try placing your child from the top of his/her head to the height of his/her belly-button inside the frame. This will give us some margin for incorporating your photo in our designs.

5. It is not necessary for your child to look directely into the camera to get a good picture. And most of the times it is almost impossible. Hand them something that will absorb their whole attention. That way you can take beautiful photo's without being noticed.

6. Most digital cameras have a slight delay delay between the moment you press the button and the moment it takes a picture. Observe your child closely and try to anticipate his/her movements.
